Overview

Saath Charitable Trust’s healthcare initiatives are rooted in a deep commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable, and dignified health services for marginalized communities. Over the years, Saath has focused on building awareness around preventive healthcare through community-based education programs, street plays, and interactive sessions that empower individuals to make informed health choices. Special attention is given to maternal and child health, with regular antenatal and postnatal care sessions, nutrition counselling, and support for institutional deliveries to reduce maternal and infant mortality. Saath also facilitates vaccination drives and health camps in underserved urban areas, addressing key issues such as immunization, hygiene, anemia, and seasonal illnesses. Through partnerships with hospitals and specialists, Saath supports low-income families in accessing critical surgical treatments, including eye surgeries and orthopedic interventions. The organization’s holistic approach extends to adolescent health, mental wellbeing, and non-communicable diseases, reinforcing its vision of healthier communities through awareness, care, and continuity of support.

Unmet Surgical Needs

Surgical Support Program – Bridging the Gap Between Access and Action

Despite the availability of government-run health schemes and public hospital infrastructure, a large number of individuals from socio-economically disadvantaged communities delay or avoid essential surgical care. Key barriers include fear of medical procedures, lack of awareness, complex administrative processes, and the high opportunity costs of navigating the health system. These delays often result in worsening health conditions, medical emergencies, and even loss of livelihood—highlighting a critical gap between healthcare availability and accessibility.

Samagra Program – Building an Inclusive Urban Health Ecosystem

Urban poor communities in India face significant barriers in accessing quality healthcare due to financial limitations, systemic neglect, and a lack of health awareness. With growing challenges like pandemics, climate change, and urban disasters, there is an urgent need for a holistic and inclusive healthcare model that addresses the preventive, promotive, and curative needs of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

Reproductive and Child Healthcare Services

In urban low-income communities, many women lack access to timely antenatal and postnatal care, while children often miss essential immunizations and early health screenings. Cultural barriers, limited awareness, and fragile public health outreach systems make it difficult for women to make informed health decisions for themselves and their children.

Impact & Outcomes :

  • ● 4,863 women connected to antenatal and postnatal care
  • ● 12,870 children vaccinated
  • ● 6,097 people provided with contraception awareness
  • ● 5,978 blood tests for malaria conducted

Minimizing unmet surgical

Minimizing Unmet Surgical Needs – Ensuring Equitable Access to Timely Surgical Care

Even with the availability of government-run health schemes and public hospital infrastructure, many socio-economically underprivileged individuals continue to delay or avoid necessary surgical treatment. Factors such as fear, lack of awareness, complex procedures, and high opportunity costs discourage timely care-seeking, leading to worsening health conditions and loss of livelihood.

Impact & Outcomes :

  • ● Personalized handholding to help patients access government surgical schemes
  • ● Timely referrals for emergency conditions like sepsis or shock
  • ● Identification and linkage for treatment of common surgical conditions such as cataracts and Hernias
  • ● Strengthened community trust and improved uptake of surgical health services

Program Accomplishments :

  • ● 486+ drives held; 4.7 lakh+ people reached with COVID-19 awareness.
  • ● 572 influencers engaged; 88,000+ vaccinated in Ahmedabad, Jaipur & Surat.
  • ● 82,696 assisted with vaccine registration; 1.25 lakh+ health queries resolved.
  • ● STOP THE SPREAD vans deployed; myths busted and access ensured in communities.
