Overview

The Saath Janvikas Multipurpose Cooperative (SJMPC) is a community-driven initiative launched by Saath Charitable Trust in collaboration with Janvikas. It builds upon Saath’s rich legacy of cooperative work that began in the early 1990s, initially aimed at enabling financial access for marginalized communities. The SJMPC is now a robust platform that addresses a broader spectrum of community needs—livelihoods, health, education, financial inclusion, and social security.

Our Goal

To improve the quality of life for informal sector workers and marginalized urban communities by leveraging their human and financial potential more efficiently.

Why the Cooperative?

India’s informal sector—comprising 87% of the workforce—remains fragmented, under-served, and vulnerable to systemic shocks. Migrants, women, and urban poor are often excluded from mainstream services. SJMPC was created as a response to this gap—offering an organized, inclusive, and democratic platform for communities to come together, pool resources, and advocate for their rights and entitlements.

Our Vision

A world where communities thrive through collective action, sustainable practices, and equitable growth.

Our Mission

To prioritize the aspirations of cooperative members by promoting value, innovation, and lasting positive change.
