Minimizing unmet surgical needs among sociology-economically underprivileged population

  • Minimizing unmet surgical needs among sociology-economically underprivileged population
program

About the Program

The program focuses on the need to identify and address barriers related to surgical care seeking despite availability of health services as well as government run schemes that aim to make care more affordable. The Sathis will help these patients attain the benefits of health schemes and, in turn, minimize the opportunity cost of availing benefits of government health schemes. They will also offer counseling through which trust building and elimination of fear of surgical procedures could be realized. Through Sathi, we aim to fill this critical gap not only by raising awareness about the schemes but moving beyond information communication and promoting utilization of health schemes by hand-holding the potential beneficiaries through the process of availing benefits of health schemes.

Outcome

  • Hand holding to avail benefits of the government schemes.
  • Prompt and timely referrals in cases of sepsis or shock.
  • Identified common surgical diseases (such as hernias) and facilitating timely medical advice and prompt treatment seeking for the same.
